SWINDON Spitfires Reserves thrashed Frome Town Reserves 8-0 in the Wiltshire County League at the weekend.
Spits picked up their third win in four games to keep the pressure on FC Chippenham at the top of the table.
Katie Wadey finished from a tight angle having been set up by Megan Greening in the 13th minute before notching her second after latching onto a Shona Hanlon goal-kick.
Emma Pinkney had a helping hand for Wadey’s 20-minute hat-trick with a fine throughball and the hotshot striker collected Morgan Whitaker’s pass 10 minutes later to fire home her fourth.
Zoe Gleaves gave Frome a chance to get back into the game in the 37th minute when she handled in the box, but the resulting penalty was blasted over the crossbar.
In the second half Spitfires came out strongly again and an intelligent Whitaker pass one minute into the period allowed Wadey to score her fifth.
Jody Nicholls hit the crossbar before Natalia Wilson’s corner was met by Wadey to score from close range. Pinkney was next to strike the woodwork after 66 minutes but Victoria Parry soon netted Swindon’s seventh.
Nicholls rounded off the scoring late on for Spits, who travel to Melksham Town Ladies this weekend.
