NORTH Wilts bounced back from the previous week’s defeat to North Somerset to see off City of Bath A 3-1 in Davis Wood Hockey League Central 2.
The visitors started brightly with the midfield of Cameron Young and James Towers controlling the game, as City of Bath were left to chase shadows.
The pressure continued to mount on the home side and Wilts found their breakthrough with an opening goal for Max Bartholomew.
Having taken the lead, the away side continued to probe but found City of Bath tough to breakdown.
With Wilts still in front at half-time it was clear that the next goal would be important, and the visitors took the initiative to extend their lead early in the second period thanks to Bartholomew’s crashing strike from a short corner.
Now Bath were chasing the game and, with space opening up, Dan Conneely was presented with the chance to make it three for the visitors, which he duly took on a quick break.
A 15-minute passage of Bath pressure followed, but the home side could only manage one goal from it and Wilts ended the game in the ascendancy once again, as Darren Hillier went close.
This weekend North Wilts face West Wilts in the North v West derby, with a 1pm start at Dorcan Sports Centre.
- Meanwhile, in West Clubs Women’s Hockey League Berkeley Division 3, North Wilts Ladies’ second-string shared a goalless draw with Avonmouth 2nds.
