Thanks to the hard work of knitters Sarah Smith, Joy Rees, Shirley Langley and Kath Guest, and members of Colerne Lunch Club, 1,847 knitted hats were presented to Age UK Wiltshire.
Lavinia Wilson, chairman of the luncheon club, said: “The club consists of a lot of elderly people, some around 90, and they love to knit.”
Allison Davies and Dina La Vardera, from Age UK Wiltshire, received the hats which were created as part of the annual Big Knit Project.
Each year Age UK supporters knit thousands of little hats which result in 25p being donated for each Innocent smoothie bottle sold during November in larger Sainsbury’s stores.
The club meets every Monday in the village hall.
