Trowbridge has strengthened its twinning links by signing an agreement with centres in Germany and Poland which could see international projects begin.
Last month a group from the town – headed by its mayor, David Halik – visited the Polish city of Elblag, which is twinned with Trow-bridge, to sign a tripartite agreement between Trowbridge Museum, Elblag’s museum and the Heimatmuseum in Leer, Germany, which is also twinned with Trowbridge.
The aim of the partnership is to exchange expertise and ideas on new projects. David Birks, Trowbridge Museum’s education and learning officer, met staff from the two centres to sign the agreement.
Trowbridge Museum curator Clare Lyall said: “This raises the profile of Trowbridge Museum as a potential centre for the international study of the develop- ment of the west of England woollen cloth industry.”
