The first of a new monthly farmers’ market in Chippenham High Street got off to a flying start, despite the rain.
Chippenham is the 12th location under the Wiltshire Farmers' Markets Association banner, selling own grown, reared or foraged produce using own or local ingredients where possible.
Traders came from a roughly 30 mile radius and produce included freshly picked vegetables from Devizes, handmade scotch eggs from Box, venison from Wick and fudge from Bradford on Avon.
Association administrator Sue Thomson said: “We survived the weather, were very encouraged by the turnout and have had lots of positive feedback. Mayor Sylvia Gibson, who attended the launch market on Sunday October 13, said: “In the pouring rain, it was a miserable Sunday morning, but not so the traders. There was a lovely atmosphere with everyone being positive about the future.
“This is something residents have asked for now it is up to them to support it.”
