Lauren and Beth Nicklinson, the daughters of Melksham right-to-die campaigner Tony Nicklinson, have been nominated for Cosmopolitan magazine’s Ultimate Campaigner Award.
Mr Nicklinson suffered a stroke in 2005 which left him severely paralysed, and led him to campaign to change the law on assisted suicide.
He died in August last year at the family’s home in the town, a week after he lost his appeal against a decision to forbid him from assisted suicide.
Throughout the high-profile legal campaign he was supported by his wife Jane and their daughters, who have continued his fight over the last year, most recently taking the case to the Court of Appeal in May.
They have both appeared on television speaking about their father’s case, and the impact his death has had on the family.
Lauren, 26, who now lives in Bristol, and Beth, 24, have now been jointly nominated for the Ultimate Campaigner Award at the 2013 Cosmopolitan Ultimate Women of the Year Awards.
The ceremony takes place at London’s Victoria and Albert Museum on December 5, where a panel of celebrity judges will announce the winner from a shortlist of four.
