SNAPPERS were praised for their creative skills during Trowbridge Arts Festival’s photography competition on Saturday.

Submissions to the second annual Photo Marathon were displayed at Leykers Coffee Central, in White Hart Yard, with the festival’s director Tracy Sullivan handing a prize to winner Oliver Bailey, 13.

The John of Gaunt pupil received a certificate and canvas of his winning entry of a chilli with four candles in it.

The contest had 10 key words, with entries needing to be related to one of them. Oliver’s work depicted ‘hot’.

Mrs Sullivan said: “What I think is really nice about it is it isn’t just about having great equipment and expertise as a photographer – people come up with clever interpretations of the words.”

The festival began on October 18 and runs until Sunday, with plans for next year’s event already being put in place.

Mrs Sullivan said: “We’d like to add to our committee for next year’s event because we have a small team of around four or five. We need people with expertise in marketing, finance and fundraising.”

Trowbridge Arts Festival has seen musical, drama and comedy performances across the town. Highlights of the last weekend include comedian Stephen K Amos at Trowbridge Civic Centre at 8pm tomorrow and musician John Etheridge at the Arc Theatre at 7.30pm on Sunday.
