RUSKIN School are making waves on the national scene as they lead an indoor rowing competition at the halfway stage.

The year six boys' rowing team lead the Concept 2 Schools Indoor Rowing League after setting the fastest time on the Ruskin rowing machine.

Schools from all over the country compete, timing how long it takes to row a certain distance, and the results are entered on a website.

After three events, Ruskin lead the standings but with three rounds left, they are expecting a tough challenge to their medal challenge.

Coach Paul Kiddell said: "I think the team is learning vey well, and they practise they will get even better.

"We are top of the league but there is always room for practise.

"It is a great achievement because this is a national competition but it is going to be interesting to see whether we can end up winning a gold medal, or any other medal."
