A car dealership in Devizes is counting the cost of damage caused after a vehicle crashed into its forecourt at the weekend.

A Devizes man was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving and later for dangerous driving after the collision at around 5.20am on Saturday.

The car, a black Renault Megane, was reported to have been travelling at speeds of 70-80mph along London Road shortly before it lost control on the roundabout at Hopton Industrial Estate.

It collided with vehicles on the forecourt of the Fussell Wadman Peugeot dealership.

It is estimated the damage caused could total tens of thousands of pounds.

Two other vehicles were reported as having been damaged in Hilliers Road that same morning and officers believe these incidents could be connected.

The 26-year-old local man was later released on police bail pending further enquiries.

CCTV enquiries are on-going but officers are now keen to speak to anyone who witnessed any of the collisions detailed or who saw a black Megane being driven through Devizes that morning.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Andy Lemon at the Local Crime Team in Melksham on 101.

Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be left anonymously.
