MELKSHAM Town climbed into the top half of the Toolstation League Premier Division as Winterbourne United were drubbed 7-0 at The Conigre last night.

Town eased to their second home win in three days as boss Darren Perrin's target of six points from the encounters against Longwell Green Sports on Saturday and United last night to put to bed any lingering relegation fears were comprehensively met.

Goal machine Gary Higdon, a hat-trick hero against Sports at the weekend, was in the thick of the action again, scoring four times, bagging his second successive hat-trick inside the opening half.

Higdon netted on 16, 30 and 35 minutes and with fellow striker Dan Kovacs having scored on 21 minutes and Matt Cooper adding another just before the interval, Melksham had the points wrapped up by half time.

The final two goals arrived in the last 10 minutes as Leigh Rogers scored, before Higdon completed his quartet.
