Ground off limits to parking

This Is Wiltshire: No more parking at the County Ground No more parking at the County Ground

THE County Ground will be locking its gates to motorists following numerous complaints around inconsiderate parking in the area.

Swindon Council have launched the Appropriate Parking Initiative after parking in the recreational area has begun to pose a hazard to visitors of the area.

Some examples of the issues raised include parking on grass verges, parked cars blocking the access road, preventing the grounds team from cutting the grass and maintaining the open spaces, and parking on the pavements causing an obstruction to elderly and vulnerable people.

As a result, from Friday the gates of the County Ground will be barred to the public unless they are making use of the park, and cars which breach the rules could be subject to clamping.

Isn't that what happens in pretty much every road and street across Swindon? How come they can do something about it here but not across the rest of the town?

And how come they can clamp - I thought that was illegal now?

Only the council/local goverment are allowed to clamp cars. Private companies are no longer allowed.

Can you confirm if this is the Football ground that is being referred to or the recreational ground. The info seems very confused and the picture of the Football ground and designated car park does not make sense for this article.

This article is about as clear as mud.

I only go to the football ground to donate blood so can someone confirm if I will be able to park there when I do so or will have to catch two busses each way.
