SWINDON’S tough season in the Championship continued as they were defeated 2-0 by visitors Swansea University.

Despite excellent build-up play, the Isambard side could not get enough shots on target and, therefore, the Swansea goalkeeper was rarely troubled and acted mainly as a spectator.

The students managed to grab a goal midway through the first-half, following poor Swindon defending.

The breakthrough came as a particular disappointment, as the hosts had been confident and strong in defence in the early part of the game.

Swindon continued to play free-flowing attacking hockey after the break, but it was not to be their day. and so it proved.

Daryl Carpenter smashed an effort against the crossbar, while the Swansea goalkeeper pulled off a couple of decent saves to keep Swindon at bay.

The visitors extended their lead after a quick break and shot into the corner of the net, with shot-stopper Alan Gough unable to do anything about it.

As the half went on Luke Cejer and Chris Parsons worked tirelessly in midfield during what proved to be trying times.

Lewis Dyer was also a creative force down the right, but it was to no avail as Swansea held on to claim the victory.
