A WOMAN who was caught dealing amphetamines has been warned she faces the prospect of a jail term.

Eleanor Free had initially pleaded not guilty to a charge of possessing class B drugs with intent to supply when she appeared at Swindon Crown Court in August. But the case was brought back before a judge where the 23-year-old changed her plea to admit what she had done.

Colin Meeke, prosecuting, said the police executed a search warrant at her home address and found about 80 grams of the drug.

They also found a quantity of cash, a set of scales and a number of small grip seal plastic bags.

Martin Wiggins, defending, said: “Miss Free’s circumstances have changed dramatically in the past few years.

“As a teenager she was not infrequently in trouble. She has started university studying psychology and sociology.

“She is well aware that the sentencing guidelines do suggest custody. It is hoped that the significant changes she has made in her life may have some weight in sentence.”

Free, of Ferndale Road, pleaded guilty to possessing class B drugs with intent to supply on Friday, November 2 last year.

Judge Tim Mousley QC adjourned the case to Friday January 3 to allow the probation service to compile a pre-sentence report and released her on bail. He said: “You have been advised, of course, and I must warn you that this type of offence does merit an immediate custodial sentence and that is something that the probation service will be considering.”
