Chippenham nursery buzzing in its 30th year

There was a buzz about Busy Bees Nursery last week as it celebrated its 30th year.

Chippenham toddlers joined those at Busy Bees’ other 212 nurseries across the country by dressing up as bees at a tea party.

The 15 staff and 17 children were trying to help beat the world record for the largest gathering of people dressed as bees. This was achieved by 2,176 participants from The Yateley and Westfield schools campus in Hampshire in 2011.

Nursery manager Wendy Massingham said: “Every special occasion needs an extra special dress code, so to ensure our birthday went off with a buzz everyone was invited to dress in anything stripy yellow and black.

“We set the world record back in October 2009, and it was so much fun. We’ve since been beaten so we thought it would be a good time to see if we could do it again.”

Busy Bees began in 1983 in Staffordshire. Chippenham’s nursery in Bath Road caters for children aged from three months to five years.
