TROWBRIDGE drivers John Jackson and Paula Walker both finished inside the top eight in their respective FIBT Bobsleigh World Cup events in Utah last night.

Jackson, who has continued his comeback from a ruptured Achilles in the summer, finished well down the field in the opening round in Calgary last week, but delivered a vastly improved display at Park City.

Jackson, plus his crew of Craig Pickering, Bruce Tasker and Joel Fearon, were 14th fastest after clocking 47.62 on their opening run

Their second run was onkly marginally faster, at 47.60, but was the second quickest overall as they moved up to eighth.

Jackson said on Twitter: "Today has been a big confidence boost for the team. A good base to work from for next week.''

Jackson and brakeman Stuart Benson were 24th in the two man event.

Meanwhile Walker, who lives with Jackson in Paxcroft Mead, achieved her second consecutive top-ten finish of the season as she and brakewoman Rebekah Walker finished eighth.

Walker said: "Quite a snowy race today but another eighth place finish. Would have liked to be top six but many more World Cups to climb the leaderboard
