NEXT week, Swindon & District Talking Newspaper will produce its 1,500th programme since it started more than 30 years ago.

The edition, on December 11, will not only include all of the normal news and items of interest, but also some special features from the very first programme, and the never preivously heard before pilot episode.

Veronica Laker, chairman of STAN, said: “I am absolutely delighted and very proud that we have reached this significant milestone. “This has been achieved through the fantastic efforts of all the volunteers who have given up some of their spare time for STAN over the years.

“Our listeners tell us how much they appreciate receiving the weekly news. However, to help continue our success – and bring an even better service to our listeners – we are always on the look-out for new volunteers. If anyone is interested, in perhaps becoming a newsreader, editor, sound engineer or administrator, we would be very pleased to hear from them.”
