BEFORE taking to the skies in his sleigh, Father Christmas has been touring Swindon using other means of transport.
Lucky families have been receiving early presents from Santa on board a barge on the Wiltshire and Berkshire Canal.
The Swindon and Cricklade Railway have also been running Santa Special train’s giving youngsters the chance to meet Father Christmas in his grotto.
All of the attractions have been busy as people get into the swing of the festive period.
The canal rides have been running for several weekends and every trip up until Christmas is now fully booked.
Adults receive a mince pie and mulled wine while the children are told to keep an eye out for Santa appearing on the bank to give them presents.
Wendy Cole, a member of the canal trust, said: “It’s been really busy and I think everyone has really enjoyed themselves.
“It is a nice way for families to spend an hour or so enjoying the canal while the children can get into the spirit of Christmas.
“Demand has been really good so far so unfortunately we’ve sold out but it may be possible to arrange charter rides during the week.”
