HUNDREDS of people have been enjoying a cool Christmas at Lacock’s Whitehall Garden Centre, as its annual ice rink again proves popular.

The centre’s ice rink has returned for a third year, and is already attracting people from all over the county.

Whitehall marketing manager Sue Hardy said: “It’s been fantastic, everybody is having a good time.

“We have been holding parties out on the ice.

People can book a room to host their event, and they’ve been having beautiful weather out there.

“It’s right next to our café as well, where people can come and get hot food and drinks, or a nice slice of cake.”

The centre has run the ice rink for the past two years, and it regularly attracts large crowds throughout Christmas and New Year.

Ms Hardy said: “It’s been really popular, we’ve had people of all ages – even some of our older visitors have been having a go.

“We expect it will be busy right up until the kids go back to school, then the rink will close on January 7. The store’s fairly busy most of the year, but those three months from October to December are always our busiest times.

“We have Father Christmas here at the moment, and the Christmas shop is open.

“There are also some reindeer and other animals in, so there is a lot going on. It’s all fantastic.”

The rink is open from 9am to 7.45pm while the store is open late in the run-up to Christmas, and until 4.45pm afterwards.

Tickets start at £1.99 for under-threes, £5.99 for children and £7.99 for adults.
