WOOTTON Bassett clocked up their first Hellenic League Premier Division victory since October 9 tonight.

Jeff Roberts’ men ground out a 1-0 victory over Binfield.

The match was finely poised at 0-0 at half-time, but five minutes after the resumption striker Sam Collier continued his good recent form with the only goal of the game.

Shrivenham shared the points with Flackwell Heath at Barrington Park.

Recent signing Dan Drewitt fired home a wonderful strike to put the hosts in front, but Flackwell levelled on the stroke of half-time.

And following a goalless second period, both sides had to be content with a share of the spoils.

Meanwhile, New College’s opponents in Division One West this weekend, Old Woodstock, have had a change of management.

Following the resignation of Clint Ross from the hotseat, Jason Ludlow has assumed the helm with Keith Laird as his assistant.

College face Woodstock at the Webb’s Wood Stadium on Saturday but the eye-catching local fixture is at the Elms where league title hopefuls Highworth and Bassett go head to head.

Elsewhere, Southern Premier Chippenham have signed former Swindon and Torquay striker Lloyd Macklin from Farnborough.

Macklin made 15 first-team appearances for Swindon after coming through the County Ground youth system and also featured more than 20 times for Torquay.

He was released by the League Two Gulls last summer and has recently run out for Isthmian League Cray Wanderers.

The Swindon Advertiser also understands that ex-Frome skipper Bryan Smith could be on his way to Chippenham.
