A CLUB was forced to shut early on Saturday and customers asked to leave by police after a man collapsed on the dance floor.

Officers were called to Lava-Lounge on Fleet Street on Saturday when man suffered a head injury and began bleeding after falling.

They cleared the venue while they dealt with the incident and the man was escorted, walking, to an ambulance.

On its Facebook page the bar said the customer had not been involved in a fight when he fell over.

“There was no fighting,” a spokesman said. “One man fell over banging his head.

“And cos it was his head and was bleeding and where he was (middle off the dance floor) the police looked after the male, asked for the music off and lights on. So at this point we had a lot of people in the club not happy.

"All I can say guys and girls is sorry. It was beyond are control. The guy is fine.”

A spokesman for the club also posted they would be open tonight.

The Facebook post has now been removed from the club’s page.

Operator Andy Anderson said the club’s priority was the safety of their customers and it had been the police who ordered the club to close while the man received treatment.

It was nearly 2am when the club was in a position to reopen, he said, and it was decided it was not economically viable.

“The venue was asked by police to turn the lights on and music off and the majority of the customers left the venue,” he said.

"With last entry at 2.30am it was physically not worth us opening the doors again.

“We reviewed the CCTV and there is nothing untoward about the events leading up to him collapsing.”
