Every copy of a book by TV chef Tom Kerridge sold out in Devizes on Saturday as his fans queued around the block to meet the two Michelin star cook.

People started arriving for the signing of his book Proper Pub Food at Walter Rose and Son butchers in Sidmouth Street more than an hour before he was due to arrive.

He brought 200 of his books with him but within an hour of his arrival they had sold out and people scoured the town to find other copies they could get signed. Soon the town was denuded of every copy.

But fans were not too disappointed as they were able to pay and order a book and still ask for a special message to be put inside. Among those who were early in the queue was Aileen Silver.

Tom was delighted to see so many of his followers turning up eager to try his food and buy his book. He said: β€œIt is fantastic to see so many people turning out in Devizes.”
