POLICE officers in East Swindon held a day of action last week which yielded several successful results.

Officers with the East Swindon Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) held the dedicated day of action last Wednesday which included executing drugs warrants, stop searches and increased patrols.

The results of the day were as follows:

• One male arrested for possession with intent to supply after being found in possession of approximately £500 of Heroin.

• One male arrested for two counts of taking without consent, one charge of interfering with a motor vehicle and one count of shoplifting.

• Two men were arrested in connection with 13 incidents of shoplifting

• Seven stop searches took place – one male was located with cannabis and given a street warning

• Three bail checks were made – all in order East Sector Sergeant Lawrence Copeland said: “This was a great day of action which was targeting issues which matter most to the local community.

“As a direct result of my officers’ hard work, a number of people were arrested and a substantial amount of illegal drugs were taken off our streets.

“Community intelligence plays a large part in any operation of this kind so I would always urge members of the public to report anything suspicious to Wiltshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be left anonymously.”
