Staff at DS Smith Packaging in Devizes have raised more than £6,000 for the Wiltshire Air Ambulance.

More than 20 employees at the factory in Mill Road took part by cycling off-road to the factory in Portbury, Bristol. The 52-mile route mainly followed cycle paths on the canal and river.

Managing director of DS Smith Packaging, Devizes, Steve Hinton, said: “The day was very challenging but great fun and all who took part completed the route.

“To raise over £6,000 for our local air ambulance is fantastic and shows great spirit and teamwork from our workforce.”

Nationally, DS Smith Packaging embarked on a charity fund-raising cycle event which included seven managing directors cycling more than 900 miles from Livingston in Scotland to Launceston in Cornwall stopping at ten factories over 11 days.

The national DS Smith fundraising raised £100,000 for many worthy charities.
