SOLAR panels at Nationwide’s Pipers Way headquarters have produced enough energy to power 15 houses for two years.
Since they were installed in December 2011 the panels have produced 100,000kWh of electricity – enough to power 15 average-sized households over this period.
Debra Bailey, the divisional director for group services said: “We may not enjoy the sunniest of climates but this shows what a contribution we can make.
“This is just one of a range of initiatives across our organisation that show Nationwide is committed to sustainability.
“The solar panels used by Nationwide are part of its commitment to a wider sustainability.”
Nationwide was also able to reduce its carbon footprint by 5,400 tonnes over the two years.
It is the equivalent of driving 14,500,000 miles in an average car.
