HIGHWORTH boss John Fisher has questioned the scheduling of the traditional Boxing Day fixture that will see his side face their second match in three days today, writes CHRISTOPHER PANKS.

The Worthians travel to Thame having beaten local rivals Shrivenham 3-1 at Barrington Park 48 hours ago, and Fisher is unhappy with the busy state of affairs.

“I don't think we should be playing on Thursday and Saturday," he said.

“Boxing Day is too close this year, we should have just had a game on Saturday. The pros wouldn't do it, so why do they expect us to?”

Fisher’s defensive options have been so limited by availability and injury recently that he has taken to playing Aaron Maximen, Chris Flanagan and Sam Wadieh as makeshift centre-backs. But now, even these emergency measures are starting to strain.

“Sam's struggling with his groin so that will be hard if he's out,” said Fisher, who is chasing Fairford’s Ash Taylor.

“There are lots of other lads in there with aches and pains, but we should have a couple coming back from Christmas breaks, so we'll have to see what we can do. We have to adjust.”

Thame are seventh in the Hellenic League Premier Division and held table-toppers Ardley to a 1-1 draw on Boxing Day, the latest in an impressive run of results that has seen the ASM Stadium outfit avoid defeat ever since November 19.

Meanwhile, Highworth striker TJ Bohane has set a lofty target as he aims to continue his blistering goalscoring form.

The Worthians captain has 28 goals for 2013/14, a higher total than bottom side Abingdon Town have managed as a team.

“I have a target - I want 40 league goals and 45 in total,” said Bohane, who returned to the Elms in the summer.

“Hopefully I'll stay fit for the rest of the season and if I can, I think I'll hit my target. I've been doing alright so far.

“It's been enjoyable. I'm back playing with friends and back playing with people I know.

“We're towards the top of the league, so we create a lot of chances, which means I can put more away. It's a good team to play in.”

In a previous spell at Highworth in the 2010/11 season, Bohane scored 37 goals in 38 games.
