A £10,000 grant has boosted a project to build a BMX track in Bromham.
The funding came from the Hills Group through the Landfill Communities Fund (LCF), which is administered by Community First.
The project was started by children in Bromham who wanted access to more challenging and exciting outdoor activities that were appropriate to their age and lifestyle. They took their ideas to the parish council, which supported them, and set about raising the £25,000 needed.
Mike Hill, chief executive of the Hills Group, said: “It is important for children and young people to have access to great outdoor areas and their enthusiasm for this project was very evident.”
In addition to £3,340 of community fundraising and donations, Devizes Area Board has contributed £5,000 and the grant from The Hills Group means the project is a step closer to completion.
Project co-ordinator Catherine Read said: “We are thrilled.”
