Plans officially lodged for new rugby/football facility in Melksham

Plans for a new stadium to accommodate Melksham Football and Rugby Club have been formally submitted to Wiltshire Council.

It is hoped the facility at Woolmoore Farm, near Melk-sham Oak Community School, will provide a new home for the clubs as they move from Melksham House so construction can start on the town’s Community Campus.

If approved it will include a 1,773 sq m building containing separate changing, toilet, storage and social facilities for each club, each overlooking their main floodlit pitch.

The site will also include 10 football pitches of varying sizes, as well as a further three rugby pitches, which will be available for use by the community as well as both clubs’ youth and training teams.

Access will be provided from a junction off Thyme Road, which will have a 152-space car park, and two coach parking bays. Additional overflow space for 112 cars will be available to the south of the site via Melksham Oak Community School, which will also have pedestrian access.

The joint clubhouse building will include 208 covered seats, with each side having a balcony to overlook their pitch.

The building will be decorated in both club’s colours, with yellow and dark grey for the football club side, while the other side will be light and dark blue, to match the rugby club.

If the plans are approved by Wiltshire Council, work is expected to start in the spring, with both clubs hoping to move in by December 2014.

Very nice. Now when are the council going to provide some facilities in Trowbridge the county town of Wiltshire. Two football pitches available for general hire with no toilets and no changing facilities. Its been this way since they sold Lambrock for building several years ago. Year after year broken promise after broken promise, again this year facilities promised for The Stallards, half way through the season and the council admit they haven't even applied for the grant. Whose get a vested interest in Melksham. Another dodgy deal by an even dodgier councillor no doubt.

What is it about Trowbridge that makes them think they have a right for everything in this world.

Man of Wiltshire, where do you get the silly idea that Trowbridge think they have a right to everything in the world, if this was correct I'm pretty sure a football pitch would be well down the list.
For someone to want their town to have better sports facilities is an excellent idea.

Christie Millers going to Oak school fields also. Gonna be busy but hopefully better for indoor football also. Wish Trowbridge sports centre would move as its old and due updating.
