Pewsey Post Office is going to be modernised into an open-plan main branch with longer opening hours.

The branch, in North Street, Pewsey, will have two open plan serving positions and one screened counter.

Service hours are being extended on by five hours Saturdays so that it will be open from 9am to 5.30pm, Monday to Saturday.

It is due to close for refurbishment on Tuesday, January 21, at 5.30pm and is due to reopen on Wednesday, February 5, at 1pm.

During the closure, customers are being encouraged to use Burbage Post Office at 157 High Street, Burbage, or Upavon Post Office at 11 High Street, Upavon.

Will Russell, Post Office Regional Network manager for Southern England, said: “We understand how important the Post Office is to residents around Pewsey and we are confident that this new modern Post Office service will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.

“This modernisation is part of a three-year investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office, that will see around half of the Post Office network converting to new-style branches and marks a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.”

The Post Office, now independent of Royal Mail, has more than 11,500 branches in the UK.
