Christmas cards can be recycled at Trowbridge’s Sainsbury’s as part of the company’s aim to raise money for the Forest Stewardship Council UK.
Customers can deposit their cards in a collection box, positioned at the front of the store, in British Row, until Tuesday, January 14.
The supermarket chain will recycle the cards and make a donation to the organisation which prompts responsible management of the world’s forests.
Last year, Sainsbury’s donated £9,000 to Forest Stewardship Council UK through a similar Christmas card collection scheme.
Val Atwill, Trowbridge store manager, said: “We had a really positive response from our customers last year and with their help we’re hoping to make an even bigger contribution this time.”
Some kinds of wrapping paper can also be left at the store’s collection box while cards can also be given to Sainsbury’s delivery staff dropping off goods ordered online.
