A flood warning from Saturday remains in place for the Upper Avon from Upavon to Amesbury affecting Upavon, Haton, Haxton Bridge, Netheravon, Milston, Durrington and Bulford.

There is also a flood alert in place for the River Kennet affecting Winterbourne Monkton, Marlborough, Ramsbury, Hungerford, Denford, Kintbury and Newbury; also the River Og in Aldbourne, the Froxfield Stream, the River Dun and the River Shalbourne.

There was flooding on the High Street in Pewsey near the Co-op on Saturday night.

Cars were still able to pass through and shops put out sandbags, preventing water seeping in.

Coopers Meadow in Marlborough was sealed off yesterday after heavy downpours caused it to flood.

Shelley Parker, the Marlborough town council clerk, said: “It’s a water meadow so it’s no worse than we would expect. We’ve been very lucky here to escape the worst of it.”
