A SHELDON School employee has won an award for her commitment to her job at the Chippenham school.
Nicole Owen, a Sodexo general manager responsible for more than 40 catering and cleaning employees, beat colleagues from across UK and Ireland to win the Committed To You award.
It recognised her commitment in recruiting, training and developing her team to their full potential, while maintaining high levels of service to the 2,000 pupils and staff at Sheldon.
Mrs Owen, 48, who lives in Stoneover Lane, Royal Wootton Bassett, picked up the award at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge Hotel in London.
She said: “It was phenomenal, it felt unreal and very daunting going up on stage in front of all those people. I was shocked because I didn’t recognise myself in the comments they made before announcing the winner. I was totally surprised and feel very honoured to have won.”
Mrs Owen has worked at Sheldon School for seven years, five as a catering manager and the last two as general manager.
She underwent two rounds of panel interviews, as well as submitting detailed written evidence, to convince judges she was the winning nominee.
Sodexo’s annual Star Awards recognise the most outstanding individuals from its 35,000 employees.
Debbie White, Sodexo UK and Ireland chief executive, said: “The Star Awards is the pinnacle of our year because it gives us, as an organisation, the opportunity to truly recognise and thank our people for their hard work and dedication. Every day should be about making our employees feel valued and involved in the progress of our organisation.”
