MANAGER Dave Webb lavished praise on his Swindon Supermarine troops after they romped to a 4-1 victory over Mangotsfield in Southern League Division One South & West.

Goals from Ash Edenborough, Kyle Lapham, Josh Parsons and substitute Joey Tustain propelled the South Marston outfit to a fourth straight win and they moved to within three points of the play-off spots as a result.

Webb said: “It was a superb performance against a good team that have been in great form. To get four goals against a team of that quality and to play the way we did was superb.

“Mangotsfield would probably say they didn't play their best, but that was down to the way that we played.

“It must have been great to watch because we played some terrific stuff at times and that's great because that's how I've always wanted the team to play.

“We're starting to get back to where we want to be and we've just got to keep reeling in the wins now.

“We're a different team to a couple of months ago and four straight wins has put a lot of confidence back into everybody.”

Against a Mangotsfield side featuring a number of ex-Chippenham players, Marine surged ahead minutes in when wide man Josh Morse found Edenborough and he beat veteran stopper Kev Sawyer with a clever finish.

The second came shortly before the break from the unlikely source of Lapham, as the right-back dived inside from the flank and unleashed a left-footed ripper that nestled in the bottom corner.

Parsons made it 3-0 seconds later with a free kick of outstanding quality, smashing a curving, dipping effort beyond Sawyer from range.

Shaun Lamb, one of Mangos' ex-Chippenham contingent, pulled one back soon after the resumption when he was allowed to run from deep and finish with relative ease.

However, Tustain halted any lingering doubts in the closing stages when his deflected effort found the back of the net.

Marine left-back Mark Flanagan was given the man of the match award and Webb was impressed with the performance of the 24-year-old debutant.

“He was highly-recommended, we had two good reports about him and in my mind there was never any doubt he was going to be a success,” said Webb.

“I wanted him to show what he could do in his first game and he had a great debut.

“I think he's a great addition to the squad that will add competition for places.

“To be fair, the whole back four and Conor (Thompson) in goal did exceptionally well to keep Mangotsfield relatively quiet."
