Police are appealing for information after a man was found in his car with nasty head injuries in Devizes.

Officers were called at 2.40pm on Saturday January 4 to reports of an injured man who was parked in Spitalcroft Road.

When officers attended the man, in his 50s from Devizes, was found with a two to three inch gash to the back of his head.

An ambulance was called and he was taken to the Great Western Hospital in Swindon for treatment where he remained overnight.

It is believed the man had been assaulted and that the original incident took place in Dowse Road shortly before police were called.

Officers also believe the suspect may have been driving a red Volkswagen Golf.

Officers are keen to hear from anyone with any information about this incident, in particular anyone who may have seen an altercation or argument between two men in Dowse Road around 2.30pm or anyone who saw a red Volkswagen Golf in the area at that time.

People are asked to contact PC Fiona Cuthbert at Melksham CID on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
