Members of the Royal British Legion from throughout Wiltshire held their annual county conference at Trowbridge Civic Centre on Saturday, and voted to return next year.

Town mayor David Halik had welcomed delegates from 32 county branches.

Speakers included Wiltshire British Legion president Sir Jack Deverell, chairman Mike Swabey, national fundraising director Charles Byrne and Wiltshire’s women’s section chairman Marie Nunn.

Legion county secretary Christopher Prestwich said: “We were delighted with the turnout. The venue was very good and staff were very supportive. We decided next year’s conference will be back at Trowbridge Civic Centre, as it’s an ideal venue.

“We’d like to thank Trowbridge Town Council and Wiltshire Farm Foods for sponsoring the conference.”

A parade featured 19 standard bearers and Sarah Troughton, the county’s Lord Lieutenant, gave an award to the 2003 (Stratton) Squadron, Air Training Corps.
