British Transport Police is still working to identify the teenage girl who was killed after being hit by a train in Yarnbrook on Wednesday night.

The incident happened at the Aintree Avenue crossing at around 8.20pm and it is believed the teenager lived in the area.

A British Transport Police (BTP) spokesperson said: “We are still carrying out door-to-door enquiries but we believe the victim was a 16-year-old girl.

"We are still investigating the incident but we believe we are not a million miles away from identifying her.”
