THE only fixture that beat the rain in Division One of the Trowbridge Windows & Conservatories, Trowbridge League was surprisingly at Meadow Lane, where hosts Westbury United Reserves defeated basement side Calne Eagles 7-0 to close to within one point of second-placed North Bradley and three behind leaders Freshford United.

Nick Taylor’s near-post header put Westbury in front. Marc Lanfear made it 2-0 and an Ashley Easton double gave Jason Edwards side a 4-0 interval lead.

Jack Hayward made it 5-0 with an early second-half goal, Lanfear’s stunning long range effort accounted for number six and the match ball went to Lanfear who took his tally for the season to 21 when he completed his hat-trick with Westbury’s seventh of the afternoon.

MATCHES OFF: North Bradley v Warminster Town Reserves, Semington Rovers v Calne Eagles.
