HIGHWORTH Town manager John Fisher isn’t sure how seriously his Wantage Town counterpart Gary Ackling will be taking tonight’s Hellenic Floodlit Cup clash between the two sides.

With promotion to the Southern League the top target for Wantage this term, Fisher has a hunch Ackling may rest some of his senior players for the rearranged tie, which has already been postponed twice due to a waterlogged pitch at Alfredian Park and is subject to a 2pm inspection this afternoon.

However, Fisher is not going to take that approach and, with the exception of the suspended Lewis Page, he has got more or less a full-strength squad heading to Oxfordshire this evening.

“We’re taking the whole lot there,” he told the Advertiser. “Last time we took the reserves because we had a few out on the Saturday and I didn’t want to take a chance but this week we’re taking the whole lot.

“They need some minutes - TJ (Bohane) and Bradley Clark have just come back from suspension and they need a game, and I spoke to the lads on Saturday and they all want to play.

“Everybody came through the weekend okay. It’s another game and if we get it played tomorrow that releases Lewis Page for Saturday.

“I don’t know how seriously they’ll take it. They are looking to get promoted and go up to the Southern League. They lost Saturday so he might decide he wants to chuck them in or he might decide to rest a couple because that’s their main aim.

“We’ve just got top play whatever is in front of us. If he rest players that’s how it is. I can understand that because his main aim is promotion, so I won’t be moaning if that’s what he’s done.

“We’re taking our first team so at least he knows what we’re taking because it’s in the paper and he’ll see it. He can be prepared.”
