Decision time on Marlborough CCTV system

Marlborough Town Council can finally decide on what CCTV system to introduce following a public consultation during which 64 per cent of people voted in favour of the project.
At a full council meeting in November it was decided that £20,000 would be earmarked for the CCTV project and a small number of static cameras should be installed, with a system that would allow for more cameras in the future if necessary.
Councillors also decided to look into the possibility of one redeployable camera and join the CCTV users’ group for an annual cost of £275.
They sought views from the public first via an online survey, asking ‘Do you support the town council’s decision to have CCTV in Marlborough?’
It is estimated that CCTV will cost between £25,000 and £35,000, as well as ongoing maintenance costs.
A full report will be posted on the town council’s website www.marlboroughtown council.gov.uk
