A CALNE building firm called on students to help create its calendar and support Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
More than 250 pupils from across John Bentley School entered the competition organised by Wilkins Builders, of Stainer Road, which asked the youngsters to capture “Wiltshire buildings and scenes with a twist”.
A top prize of £50 went to Year 8 pupil Matthew Waite for his shot of Bowood Lake on Lord Lansdowne’s estate.
His winning entry has been used to make up the calendar, alongside 11 other photos, and has helped to raise £600 for the air ambulance.
Maria Smith, from Wilkins Builders, who chose Matthew as the overall winner, was impressed with the composition and lighting in his photo.
She said: “We were really pleased with the response to our competition. It was encouraging to see students taking such an interest in photography and capturing some incredible images.
“To raise money for the air ambulance we sell advertising space to some of our specialist subcontractors. This year we managed to raise £600 and we would like to say a big thank you to the businesses that purchased calendar space and the students.”
