CLARRIE Dunbar’s men men return to Wessex League action on Sunday when they face Christie Miller in a crucial local derby, writes DAVE EATON.

Dunbar top the group and will be seeking as many points as possible to enhance their chances of topping the central section which they currently lead from Bristol by 11 points with only two group matches remaining.

Melksham’s Miller, six points behind Bristol, need every point possible from their last two games to try and secure a wild card into the end of season play-offs for the overall Wessex title.

Meanwhile, eight players from Clarrie are named in the Somerset men’s side to face Sussex tomorrow in the quarter-finals of the Liberty Trophy.

The inter-county championship last eight match will be played at the neutral venue of Loddon Vale, Basingstoke (10am on Saturday).

Graham Shadwell, Craig Doughty, Keith Bailey, Andy Colebrooke, Russell Francis, Neil Collett, Dale Taylor and Terry Perkins who played in the previous round a 121-118 win over Wiltshire at North Wilts all retain their places.

However, Andy Taylor and John Freeman revert to the reserves bench as World No.3 Robert Paxton and M Denslow both return to the side for the Sussex game.

Clarrie supply four of the six skips – Perkins, Collett, Francis and Shadwell.

Clarrie Dunbar Dunbar ladies have made a fine start in two of the Somerset inter-club knockout competitions.

They won their opening match in the County Double Rinks beating Victoria (Weston-Super-Mare) 48-32 taking the honours on one rink by 17 shots and only losing on the other by a shot.

They will now play either Bridgwater or Watchet in the second round.
Meanwhile in the Optika Top Nine competition both Clarrie teams won their matches.

The B side travelled to Taunton Deane and won both the pairs and triples matches to secure a 2-1 victory. Dunbar’s A side after a win over Woodspring followed that up by whitewashing Yeovil One 3-0.

Both Clarrie sides move forward to the quarter-finals with the B side playing Nailsea Two 1 this Sunday at Clarrie Dunbar (2pm).
