The star of gardening series Grow Your Own Drugs is coming to Wiltshire College Lackham to talk to aspiring horticulturalists.
Botanist and BBC presenter James Wong will visit on Thursday, February 13, the only place in Wiltshire he is visiting as part of his national tour.
All places have been filled but students who got in early will get an insider’s perspective on working in horticulture, with Mr Wong revealing tips on how to grow the best possible produce.
He said: "A career in horticulture is often completely unfairly dismissed as being non-academic, mundane and poorly paid. But that is simply not true.
“In reality horticulture can be one of the most dynamic, creative and rewarding industries out there with immense professional opportunities to earn a fantastic living.
“I'm living proof that any aspiring plant geek can get ahead and turn their passion into a full-time profession and after all, in how many industries do you get to pursue your biggest interest everyday and get paid well for it?"
Carl Gill, curriculum manager for horticulture, floristry and foundation studies, said: “It was a real delight when I heard that James had agreed to my request to give a presentation at Lackham as part of his homegrown Revolution Tour across the country.
“This exciting initiative will I am sure provide positive inspiration to all those attending and we are all looking forward to his visit.”
