ISAMBARD Community School maths and science departments have been awarded the Prince’s Teaching Institute Mark for 2012/13.

The Prince’s Teaching Institute launched the Schools Programme in 2007 to recognise and reward school departments that develop inspirational ideas and activities which enhance the teaching of art, English, history, geography, science, mathematics, modern foreign languages and music, regardless of their pupils’ backgrounds or abilities.

It is run as a membership group for school departments that choose to commit to increasing the challenge of their subject provision.

The two departments received the mark in recognition of work that was inspired by membership of the Schools Programme carried out in 2012/13.

Rachael Mattey head of Isambard Community School said: “We are delighted to have been awarded the PTI Mark and will be proud to carry the Mark as evidence of our commitment to inspirational teaching.”
