SWAN Advocacy has secured a grant for £15,000 from the Lloyds TSB Foundation to develop its dementia services for those in the most rural parts of the county.

The grant will enable the project to develop its Dementia Advocacy Service, with a particular focus on supporting individuals living in the most rural communities of Wiltshire who experience memory loss or confusion or have recently been diagnosed with dementia.

With the project launched last month, it will provide a client- focused independent advocacy service to people living at home to ensure they have the best care provision and access to services reflective of their wishes and interests during their dementia journey.

The project will also support these individuals to plan for a time where they are less able to make decisions for themselves.

Teresa Wells, interim chief executive for Salisbury-based Swan said: “We are very grateful to Lloyd’s in providing the grant needed to secure this essential service. The project will provide services that will enable individuals to express their views and wishes, whilst they are able, by engaging with an advocate.”
