COMMUTERS in Swindon are dealing with long delays and a reduced service on the trains between the town and London Paddington this morning.

First Great Western is running services through Swindon to the capital, but flooding near Maidenhead is playing havoc with departure and arrival times.

Due to the flooding, trains are running at a reduced speed between Paddington and Reading, with journey times extended to as much as 60 minutes on those trains which continue to run.

There is currently only one scheduled train per hour being cancelled through Swindon at the moment, with those trains due to leave Swindon at 59 minutes past the hour being cut.

As a result, any passengers trying to reach Great Bedwyn from Swindon via Reading, will need to make an earlier departure from Swindon to make their connecting train.

First Great Western is currently advising passengers not to travel. Passengers can postpone their journey and use their tickets later in the week. Ticket restrictions have been lifted across the First Great Western network until Friday (FEB 14).

Trains between London Paddington and Cardiff only will not run.

Trains between London Paddington and Cheltenham Spa will only run between Swindon and Cheltenham Spa, which means services to and from Kemble will continue, but with delays.

Stopping services between London Paddington and Reading will only run between London Paddington and Maidenhead.

Stopping services between London Paddington and Oxford will only run between Twyford and Didcot Parkway.

Fast services between London Paddington and Oxford will not run and a limited bus service will run between Maidenhead and Reading, calling at all stops.

South West Trains and First Great Western passengers may use each other’s services on reasonable routes and passengers may use Chiltern Railways on any reasonable routes.
