And Saturday afternoon four rinks from Clarrie will take on Somerset Under 25 men in the annual Challenge Trophy tie.

Wiltshire players feature in three of the four Area 30 national indoor championship finals to be staged this weekend – singles, pairs and fours.

Clarrie’s Craig Doughty and Graham Shadwell face Melksham father and son combination of Steve and Wayne Snook, who play their indoor bowls at North Wilts, in the area national pairs final at Street tomorrow (Saturday, Feb 15) at 6.30pm.

And the following day (Sunday) the quartet of John Freeman, Keith Bailey, Andy Colebrooke and Russell Francis have home advantage when they entertain Jason Oven’s foursome from Bristol in the area national fours final.

Meanwhile Andy Moore is due to play Clevedon’s Mark Woods in the Area 30 national singles final at Street on Sunday (6.30pm)..

Winners in the Area 30 singles and pairs will book a place at Melton and District in early April in the latter stages (last 32) of the national championship.

However, the winner of the fours will still be one step away from Melton & District as they have to move forward to an inter-area final firstly.
