Calne community artist Josh Simpson is transforming the blank walls of a school’s new library into a magical mural of children’s stories.
Mr Simpson, 29, has been commissioned by St Margaret’s Preparatory School, Calne, to create beautiful pictures depicting everything from Harry Potter to Narnia in the library which will be officially opened on February 25.
The former John Bentley School pupil said: “I have done a couple of other murals at schools in Calne. I really enjoy this sort of work.”
St Margaret’s head Karen Cordon saw his artwork at Cherhill School and thought his murals would be perfect for the walls of the library.
She said: “We are excited about the new library and Josh’s murals bring the walls alive and create a warm and welcoming atmosphere.”
The £250,000 extension will be opened by author Chris d’Lacey, who wrote the Last Dragon Chronicles. On his visit on February 25 he will hold writing workshops with pupils from St Margaret’s and Cherhill Primary School.
