Dozens of people met in Trowbridge Park today to support an international campaign calling for an end to violence against women.
Domestic abuse charity Splitz, based at the White Horse Business Park, organised Trowbridge’s One Billion Rising festivities.
It saw a motorcycle convoy travel from Splitz’s offices meeting in the park at 2pm to perform a group dance to One Billion Rising’s anthem Break the Chain.
Fran Lewis, founder of Splitz, was pleased with the turnout despite the strong winds and rain showers, thanking everyone who attended.
She said: “We can change this together but we need to realise that this is all our problem as violence against women affects everyone.
"I’m so proud of my staff who stuck their necks on the line and performed the dance and made the earth shake.
“Some people did wonder whether we’d go ahead today but women across the globe are getting beaten up and abused whatever the weather so I felt we had still hold the event.”
Events were scheduled to take place in 207 countries as part of the campaign.
