The 1st Lavington Club Sea Scouts demonstrated their ingenuity when they won a scrapheap challenge.

Teams of Cub Scouts from the Mid-Wiltshire district took part in the competition at Calne.

The teams had to use scrap cardboard, plastic bottles and packaging to make a solid structure on the theme of the Winter Olympics.

They had five minutes to plan and draw their idea and an hour to choose their materials and make it.

The 1st Lavington Club Sea Scouts built a hillside with a ski jump, luge track and spectator stand. They gained extra marks from the judges because they had spectators who moved when a trigger device was moved and a luge that went down the track. They will represent the district in the county challenge at the County Scout Centre at Potterne on February 22.
