Kennet Beekeepers Associ-ation is following up a taster day last year by running an introductory course on beekeeping.

The 12-hour course will be a mixture of theory and practical, taught by some of the county’s leading beekeepers.

Dick Church, education co-ordinator of the association, said: “It aims to help those wanting to discover more about beekeeping and gives a greater understanding of our intricate system of plants and insects.

“It will help you to decide whether beekeeping is a suitable hobby. It is peaceful, requires planning, patience and attention to detail.”

He said the course also covered necessary equipment, time, money and skills required to start beekeeping.

The course will be held at Bishops Cannings Village Hall, starting on April 8, and the cost is £40.

Places are limited, so early booking is being encouraged.
