Clarebdon Academy Year 7 pupil Alice Moore has been elected to represent west Wiltshire for the Wiltshire Assembly of Youth.

The 11-year-old wants to improve Wiltshire’s transport and leisure facilities for young people.

She said: “I’m very proud and I’d like to thank everyone who has supported me.”

Following the week-long elections Rebecca Richards, 13, Sam Gallacher, 13, Liam Harding, 19, Pippa Poole, 16, Kiaran Jarvis Down, 12, Ben Blackburn, 12, and Lauren Goldson, 15, were also voted on to the assembly.

Voters also elected the county’s UK Youth Parliament representatives with Court-ney Pickering, 15, Lee Gunton, 16, and Chloe Lintern, 15, serving on both bodies.

Lee, who studies at Melksham Oak, will represent west Wiltshire, said: “I know that I can make a difference to young peoples’ lives.”

People aged between 11 and 19 were eligible to vote in the elections with their being a turnout of 33,998 improving on last year’s 32,198.
